Metro Storage Dams Slightly Lower

NOVEMBER 4, 2014

The major storage dams supplying Nelson Mandela Bay were at a combined 77.50% of capacity when the latest reading was taken yesterday, 0.44% lower than a week before.

Details released by the municipality show that the largest storage dam, the Kouga, was at 85.65% of capacity yesterday, down from 87.68% last week, while the second largest, the Impofu, was at 71.39%, down from 71.99% last Monday.

The Churchill was at 60.71%, which is marginally up on the 61.18% recorded last week, while the Groendal remained at 100% of capacity and the Loerie was at 61.24%, up from the 57.63% recorded last week.

While there is still no clarity with regard to the imposition of water restrictions and accompanying punitive tariffs, the metro has been warned by Water and Sanitation that it is facing a drought next year. - MetroMinutes.
