Metro to Develop an Action Plan on issues Raised by Auditor-General

JANUARY 20, 2015

The metro will develop a comprehensive action plan in the third quarter of the current financial year to address issues raised by the Auditor-General in his report on the municipality’s financial statements for 2013/14.

The Mid-term Budget and Performance Report to be tabled at the end of this week notes that a qualified audit opinion was issued because the metro did not have “adequate systems in place to identify and disclose all irregular expenditure incurred”.

Further, the AG stated in his report that the municipality did not have an adequate system in place to ensure that all vacation leave was properly administered.

The Mid-Term Report states that the action plan will be developed “to prevent the recurrence of a qualified audit opinion for the 2014/15 financial year.” - MetroMinutes.
