MAY 31, 2016

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s 2016/2017 - 2018/19 capital programme, 2016/17 Operating Budget and its 15th Edition of the Integrated Develop Plan will be tabled during a Special Council meeting on Tuesday.

According to Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality by Acting Communications Director, Kupido Baron; "The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality's R266 million cash-backed budget for the 2016/2017 financial year comes hot on the heels of a three notch credit rating increase by Moody’s and the impressive R2 billion cash holding due to prudent financial management."

He added that following the improved rating of, Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Executive Mayor Dr Danny Jordaan said the municipality was preoccupied with growing and diversifying the economy while focusing "on the golden thread – delivery of basic services such as waste removal, dealing with illegal connections and assistance to the poor programme".

"Although Mayor Jordaan was inaugurated only a year ago in May 2015 at the Nangoza Jebe Hall, he managed to restore the financial respectability of the municipality, decisively dealt with corruption and will now for the first time table a budget led by him from the onset," Baron said.
