Meyer to make four changes to the Boks
SA Rugby Magazine reports that Springboks coach, Heyneke Meyer, could be making at least four changes to his side’s End of Year Tour match against England at Twickenham on Saturday.
Sharks back, Patrick Lambie, will be replacing Handré Pollard at flyhalf and might have Cobus Reinach as his halfback partner, the latter replacing Francois Hougaard at number 9.
The only change in the backline will see JP Pietersen playing at right wing ahead of Cornal Hendricks.
Adriaan Strauss, who received a yellow card in last weekend’s match against Ireland, is expected to replace Bismarck du Plessis as hooker.
Lock, Eben Etzebeth and Marcell Coetzee, did not participate in Tuesday’s training session due to flu and a hamstring injury respectively. If Coetzee is unable to play, Schalk Burger will take his place at openside flank, with Nizaam Carr, moving to the bench.
Meyer will announce the final starting team as well as the substitutes later today.
Possible Springboks starting XV:
15 Willie le Roux, 14 JP Pietersen, 13 Jan Serfontein, 12 Jean de Villiers (c), 11 Bryan Habana, 10 Pat Lambie, 9 Cobus Reinach, 8 Duane Vermeulen, 7 Teboho Mohoje, 6 Marcell Coetzee, 5 Victor Matfield, 4 Eben Etzebeth, 3 Jannie du Plessis, 2 Adriaan Strauss, 1 Tendai “Beast” Mtawarira.
