Minister tells Maimane to “run for his life”

Energy Minister, Tina Joemat-Pettersson, has called on Democratic Alliance (DA) Parliamentary leader Mmusi Maimane to “free himself from his oppressors” and enjoy the benefits of freedom.

Speaking during a Freedom Day debate in Parliament, the minister stated that certain people had been trained like monkeys and if set free, would instead run around their masters.

She insisted that Maimane, who is currently campaigning for the party’s leadership opposite Federal Chairperson Wilmot James, follow the paths taken by his predecessor Lindiwe Mazibuko and Agang founder Mamphela Ramphele, and run for his life before the party’s elective conference in Port Elizabeth this coming weekend.

“Run Mmusi, run Honourable Maimane run run,” she was quoted as saying, to which DA Chief Whip John Steenhuisen reportedly replied, “He is running for president”.
