Mitsubishi’s Fortuner rival pictured

Merely a day after pictures of the second generation Toyota Fortuner went viral, the same Thai-based motoring forum has published undisguised images of the equally new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport set for official unveiling at the Bangkok Motor Show next month.

Like the current Sport, the newcomer will once again use the same underpinnings as the Triton bakkie, but foregoes the somewhat conservative looks in favour of a much more striking appearance with certain cues borrowed from the GC-PHEV concept shown at the Chicago Motor Show in February.

Although little else is known at this stage, except the Sport to use the same range of engine options as the recently launched Triton, which includes the familiar the 2.5 DI-D turbodiesel, 2.4-litre petrol and a brand-new 2.4 DI-D oil-burner.

Transmission options will likely consist out of a five-and six-speed manual as well as a new six-speed automatic. Expect a revised version of Mitsubishi’s famed Super Select system on four-wheel-drive models.
