More rain, wind and cold temperatures expected on Thursday

JUNE 4, 2015

This year's winter season may have come a bit late, but it has come with a vengeance. Following days of heavy rains and wind, those residing in the coastal areas of the Eastern Cape have also been warned of heavy rainfall leading to localised flooding from early on Thursday with disruptive snow over the northern parts.

Residents from Plettenberg Bay to East London can expect rain while gale force winds are expected in places between Cape St. Francis and East London, spreading to Durban.

High seas, with wave heights of between 6m and 9m, are also expected between Cape Agulhas and Richards Bay.

Maximum temperatures of below 20 degrees are expected in most provinces like North West, Free State, Northern Cape, Western Cape and Eastern Cape.

The bad weather is expected to clear by Friday as the cold front moves inland.

Heavy rain and strong winds have led to power outages in the Southern Cape over the past few days and some flooding in informal settlements on the Cape Flats.
