More than a 1000 police officers expected in the Bay for festival
It's all systems go for the South African Police Services in the Eastern Cape, which will be hosting the annual Police Music and Cultural Association (Polmusca) Unity Festival over three days in Port Elizabeth from Thursday.
The proceedings will kick-off at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium before moving off to the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University's (NMMU) Missionvale Campus.
The festival, which is expected to be addressed by the Minister of Police, Nkosinathi Nhleko, will be preceded by sporting and other activities in the morning before the actual event begins at 14:00 on 17 September.
According to the police; "The Nelson Mandela Metro will welcome more than 1 000 SAPS participants from all over the country, who are expected to compete against each other in competitions relating to choral music, ballroom dancing, traditional dancing, cultural exhibitions and cookery displays.
"The Province is at the same time excited to defend their title as the reigning Polmusca Choral, Traditional Dance and Ball Room Champions.
"Attendance is free and members of the public are encouraged to attend the opening ceremony and the choral competition."
This event is a highlight on the SAPS national calendar of events and the Province is indeed honoured to host SAPS employees and distinguished guests from all over South Africa over the following scheduled period:
OPENING CEREMONY (Free Entry)
17 September 2015: 11:00 TO 16:00
Official Opening – Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, (Including Cultural Exhibitions, Traditional dance, Sporting Events and Official Parade.)
17 and 18 September 2015: 08:00 – 16:00
Crime Awareness Campaigns, Community walk-about in identified hotspot areas, shopping malls and schools.
CHORAL COMPETITION: (Free Entry)
18 September 2015: 09:00 – 18:00
