Movie review: Deadpool

BY DARREN JOHN - MARCH 4, 2016

This week may be your last chance to catch Deadpool at the cinema - Ryan Reynolds' adult take on this Marvel character, complete with some of the darkest humour seen on the big screen in many years.

Deadpool earns every letter in its 16 SLNV rating - it should have been 18 in my opinion - and is not for the easily offended or faint hearted, but if you can handle it, Deadpool is a twisted piece of brilliant art that will have you cracking up at regular intervals.

I’m not going to give anything away in this review, but rest assured that Deadpool is one of the best popcorn movies in a while complete with a love story, awesome action, a “hot chick” (Homeland star Morena Baccarin), British villain (Game of Thrones star Ed Skrein) and the best cameo yet by the father of all things Marvel, Stan Lee.

I must admit that I initially had no interest in watching it, but after seeing Ryan Reynolds being interviewed on The Graham Norton Show, I had a sudden change of heart which ultimately prevented me from missing one of the most original films in a very long time. Go and see it now.
