Movie-style robbery fails after cutting torch fizzles out in Newton Park

MARCH 30, 2016

Port Elizabeth police are investigating a movie-style attempted robbery after four men allegedly tried to remove an ATM at an undisclosed address in Newton Park with a cutting torch in the early hours of Monday.

Unfortunately for the robbers, their cutting torch fizzled out and they could not detach the ATM.

According to the police, the suspects then drove off in a white Toyota Quantum minibus taxi, taking a security guard with them.

The security guard was later dropped off at Struanway, near New Brighton.

No arrests have yet been made.
