JUNE 4, 2015

Nelson Mandela Bay's Deputy Executive Mayor, Cllr Bicks Ndoni, and Chief Whip, Cllr Litho Suka, on Wednesday met with representatives of local housing contractors, who had expressed concerns over a range of areas that they either wanted clarity on or to be addressed.

The delegation who met with Cllrs Ndoni and Suka represented 430 local housing contractors.  Among the areas discussed at the meeting were the Municipality's roster system, the recent pronouncement by the National Department of Human Settlements regarding the HDA (Housing Development Agency), late payments, and the Municipality's commitment to and implementation of BBBEE.

Deputy Mayor Ndoni said: "Our discussions with the representatives were cordial. We fully appreciate them bringing their concerns to us in a structured manner, so that we can properly follow up and provide constructive feedback to them. We will be looking at all the areas, so that we find a 'win-win' solution for everybody."

Deputy Mayor Ndoni confirmed that a follow-up meeting would be held on Friday with the representatives.
