The South African National Roads Agency Soc Ltd (SANRAL) would like to notify travellers that the Nico Malan Pass on the R67 in the Eastern Cape will be closed from 12pm until 5pm today to clear debris caused by an accident earlier this morning.

The accident occurred in the Nico Malan Pass on road R67 section 4 between the towns of Seymour and Whittlesea in the Eastern Cape.

The driver lost control of a truck and subsequently overturned and went through the guardrail down the embankment. The driver of the vehicle was fatally injured. No other vehicles were however involved in the accident.

“The Nico Malan Pass will be closed to clear all debris from the road,” said Mbulelo Peterson, SANRAL Southern Region’s Regional Manager.
