NMBM: Damaged Uitenhage water reservoir back online tonight

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has said is expects water supply in certain areas of Uitenhage to return to normal this evening, following repairs to a faulty pump.

In a statement, Acting Communications Director Kupido Baron said vandals damaged electrical cables and panels at a station near the van Riebeeck reservoir on Friday, which caused a small fire that left residents in Vanes Estate, Fairbridge Heights, Scheepershoogte, Winterhoek Park and Strelitzia Park without water for most of the weekend.

“A temporary control panel was finished earlier this afternoon resulting in the pump working again. We expect that the Fairbridge Reservoir fill take a few days to fill up and request residents to conserve water as soon as supply is restored,” Baron said.
