NMBM launches Children’s Forum to safeguard children's rights

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has launched the NMBM Children’s Forum.

"This Forum will protect and deal exclusively with the rights of the children of Nelson Mandela Bay. Interestingly, the Forum is constituted by learners from different schools across the Metro," the municipality said in a statement.

"At the inaugural session, Mabhuti Dano, Manager of Special Sector (Constituency Services Sub-Directorate) provided background information and the objectives of the Children’s Forum,explaining to his eager young audience how it would operate and what it stood for.

"It is clear that the Forum will expose local learners to new and exciting activities, including constructive engagement with other children, while developing themselves for a better future. They will also be able to present their ideas in front of the Council and the Executive Mayor of Nelson Mandela Bay."

The newly appointed learners to the NMBM Children’s Forum are:

  • Chairperson: Ntokozo Ndabambi (Mzontsundu High School),
  • Secretary: NtobekoZIndlani (Molly-Black burn High)
  • Additional members: Yvonne Mramba, Mduduzi Mazibuko, Khuthasi Simamkele, Ziyekile Nzokuhle, Lwazi Kwanin and Shy Akanani
