The National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (NAAMSA) recorded a slight increase in the sales of new vehicles for November, with exports also registering a small growth

Aggregate total domestic sales improved marginally by 0.4% to 51 256 units from the 51 055 recorded over the same period last year. Individual segments continued to show mixed results however with the sales of passenger vehicles falling 0.6% from last year’s 33 250 units to 33 038, and light commercial vehicles posting a 1.1% rise from 15 071 to 15 242.

A notable increase of 16.4% was posted in the sales of heavy duty commercial vehicles, while the market for medium duty units fell 3.0%. Exports continued to be affected by run-out sales of the pre-facelift Ford Ranger, but still posted a small gain of 0.2% from last year’s 28 046 units, to 28 112 this year.
