Only 288 General Valuation Appeals Left

SEPTEMBER 10, 2014

The Appeal Board hearing appeals against the 2013 General Valuation has completed 323 of the 611 appeals received leaving 288 to process.

A report to the Budget and Treasury Committee states that the board is completing an average of 10 appeals per day, adding that it is anticipated that the process will have been completed by the end of October.

The report points out that in terms of the Municipal Property Rates Act all cases where the valuation was adjusted by the Municipal Valuer by more than 10% upwards or downwards during the objection process must be reviewed by the Appeal Board.

There are approximately 2 215 such cases in Nelson Mandela Bay and these will be reviewed by the board once the appeals process has been finalised. - metrominutes
