MAY 27, 2016

Operation Lockdown in Port Elizabeth's Northen Areas has resulted in the arrest seven suspects within the last 24 hours in Bethelsdorp and Gelvandale.

"One 38-year-old suspect was arrested on a charge of murder; he is the third suspect arrested in connection with the murder of Ferdinand Geysman. This incident happened during December 2015 in Gelvandale," said police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg.

"An additional four suspects were arrested on charges of possession of drugs, and the police members confiscated dagga, mandrax tablets and tik. One suspect was arrested for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition; a 9mm pistol, with ammunition, was seized."

All arrested persons are expected to appear in court soon.

"The communities of Gelvandale and Bethelsdorp areas have been very co-operative and have been instrumental in providing anonymous ‘tip offs’ to the police," said Captain Janse van Rensburg .

"The police would like to encourage them to continue to do so. Information may be reported anonymously on 08600 10111 or to Colonel Malizo Ralane on 082 442 1663. All information reported to police will be treated as strictly confidential. Be the eyes and ears of the police and together we can make our communities safer."
