Op Lockdown: Two suspected PE gangsters arrested for unrelated murders

Two men, suspected to be gang members, were arrested on Friday morning in Port Elizabeth's Northern Areas by the investigating officer from the Gang Task Team in connection with two unrelated murders.

"A 27 year-old suspect was arrested for the murder of Donovan Barry (47) on 03 May 2016 in Barberry Street, Extension 31, Bethelsdorp and a 26 year-old suspect was arrested for the murder of Loyiso Mjiyako (33) on 09  February 2016 in Old Uitenhage Road, Kleinskool and for attempted murder where two persons were injured during the murder of Loyiso  Mjiyako," describd police spokesperson, Capt Sandra Janse Van Rensburg.

Both the suspects will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrates' Court on Monday.  

"Since the launch of Operation Lockdown, the communities have volunteered vital information to the police and many arrests have been effected  as a result of the positive information provided. Information may be reported anonymously on 08600 10111  or to Col Ralane on 082 442 1663," said Cpt van Rensburg  

"All information reported to the police will be treated as strictly confidential. By working together we can make our communities safer."
