Operation Fiela: 50 suspects apprehended in EC

Eastern Cape police have confirmed the arrests of 50 suspects in parts of Nelson Mandela Bay and Jeffrey’s Bay between Christmas Eve and December 28th, as part of Operation Fiela.

Speaking in a statement, police spokesperson Sergeant Majola Nkohli said the charges ranged from drug possession and driving under the influence of alcohol, to murder and housebreaking.

  

Uitenhage:

17 people fined for drinking in public

15 traffic fines issued for un-roadworthy and unlicensed vehicles

Six suspects arrested for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol

Two suspects arrested for the possession of dagga

 

Despatch

Two suspects taken into custody for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm

97 motorist stopped and searched

Searches conducted on 18 premises including taverns

Four suspects arrested for murder

One suspect arrested for housebreaking and theft

 

KwaNobuhle

Four arrested for assault

Two suspects stopped and taken into custody for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol

Six suspect arrested on warrants of arrests with charges ranging from assault to driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol

Four suspects nabbed for aggravated robbery

 

Jeffrey’s Bay

Eight suspects stopped and taken into custody for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol

Nine suspects detained for being drunk in public

Two suspects arrested for being in possession of the stolen property

 

Nkohli said the suspects appeared in the Uitenhage, KwaNobuhle and Humansdorp Magistrates’ Courts on Monday for bail.
