Operation Fiela for safer festive season to be launched in Port Elizabeth

The South African Police Services (SAPS), together with the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, will on Friday, launch the Operation Fiela/Reclaim Safer Festive Season Police High Visibility programme in Port Elizabeth.

The purpose of the launch is to assure the public of the SAPS' readiness to ensure that all visitors and local residents across the Eastern Cape enjoy a safe festive season.

The actual launch will be preceded by high density and high visibility operations in and around Port Elizabeth. There will also be community engagements at Stoep in Gelvandale; Bloemendal in Bethelsdorp; KwaNobuhle Mall in Motherwell (Shoprite); and at the ENjoli Taxi Rank.

Eastern Cape MEC for Transport, Safety and Liaison, Weziwe Tikana, the SAPS Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Cynthia Celiwe Binta, and Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Executive Mayor, Danny Jordaan, are expected to attend the launch.
