Operation Fiela nets 25 and drugs worth R500 000

A total of 25 people were arrested over the weekend in Port St Johns, Lusikisiki and Mtontsasa as part of Operation Fiela.

Speaking in a statement, police spokesperson Colonel Sibongile Soci said the charges ranged from murder and assault to alcohol offences and the possession of counterfeit DVD’s.

She stated that dagga, weighing 5 851 kg and worth an estimated R500 000, was seized in one of the operation, which also saw police recovering 91 plants. Three suspects were taken custody and charged with the possession and distribution of drugs.

“We will continue to be very visible and conduct more of these operations to both prevent and combat crime throughout the entire Port St Johns,” Port St Johns Cluster Commander, Brigadier Nompumelelo Majikijela, said.
