Operation Lockdown: Gelvandale suspect busted with tik, mandrax and cash

A suspect is expected in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court soon after being arrested on Wednesday on drug-related charges by police officers conducting Operation Lockdown duties in Port Elizabeth's Northern Areas.

"Over the past 24 hours a suspect was arrested for drug-dealing, and tik, mandrax and a quantity of cash were seized in Gelvandale, Port Elizabeth under Operation Lockdown," said the police in a statement.

"Operation Lockdown was launched in March 2016 by Minister Nhleko and Lt Gen Phahlane and is aimed at ridding PE's Northern Areas of gang-related criminal activity, including drug dealing.
