Panayiotou trial: Babalwa Breakfast due in court for perjury and obstructing justice

BY YOLANDA PALEZWENI - OCTOBER 28, 2016

Babalwa Breakfast is due to appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court after she was arrested shortly after completing her testimony during the High Court case against Christopher Panayiotou, Sinitemba Nenembe and Zolani Sibeko.

The 23-year-old witness, who is state witness, Luthando Siyoni's grilfriend, faces charges of perjury and defeating the ends of justice. Siyoni is alleged to have been the middleman in the faked abduction and subsequent murder of Jayde, Panayiotou's wife, in April 2015.

"During the investigation the witness made two witness statements and during the court proceedings she denied the contents of her affidavits and testify to a different version of events. To such an extent that the court declared her a hostile witness," Port Elizabeth police said.

"The suspect will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate court today [Friday]."
