Paris terror attacks: Alleged mastermind killed in complex siege


French authorities in Paris have confirmed the death of the alleged mastermind behind last Friday’s terror attack that left 129 dead and over 350 injured.

According to reports, Belgium national Adelhamid Abaaoud was identified as having been one of fatalities when police and members of the French special forces, raided an apartment complex in the Parisian suburb of Saint Denis in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

A reported eight people were taken into custody and two killed following a heavy exchange of gunfire and detonation of explosives that lasted for over seven hours. It was reported that Abaaoud’s body was found “riddled with bullets” in the complex, and that his identity only became known after his fingerprints were taken.

The BBC has meanwhile reported that a woman who blew herself up as police stormed the building, had been identified as Abaaoud’s cousin, Hasna Aitboulahcen.
