Paris terror attacks: Two dead and seven arrested in complex raid

Police in Paris have reportedly confirmed the deaths of two people following a siege on an apartment complex in suburb of Saint Denis, where the alleged mastermind behind Friday’s terror attack is being holed up.

According to Sky News, police launched a raid in the early hours of Wednesday morning, after it was discovered that Belgian national, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, has been staying in the complex and not in Syria as previously thought.

It is believed that the 31-year old and his accomplices were planning an attack on the city’s Le Defence business district, in the wake of last week’s mass shootings that left 129 people dead and some 350 injured.

The siege, which is reported has having been characterised by numerous gun shots and loud explosions, has so far resulted in the arrests of seven suspects while a female militia reportedly blew herself up as the raid escalated. A second suspect was killed not long after by a police sniper while a number of officers were being treated for light injuries.
