Pat Howard to replace injured Senatla
Pat Howard is set to replace Seabelo Senatla as left wing, when the Western Province clash with the Eastern Province (EP) Kings for the ABSA Currie Cup at Newlands on Friday.
Western Province coach Allister Coetzee has said that he is not completely certain what is wrong with Senatla’s ankle, as specialists have to wait for the swelling to go down before performing an x-ray; however Senatla will definitely miss Friday’s game against the Kings and might even miss the game against the Golden Lions next week.
“As clinically tested by our doctor, it seems likely that Seabelo will be out for a minimum of two weeks,” said Coetzee.
Coetzee added that the team will manage this week’s game at Newlands without Senatla, he is however worried about the game against the Lions, who are currently sitting at second place on the log, right under the Western Province.
“We have quite a number of options available, but we know it’s going to be very difficult to replace Seabelo because of his current form and what he brings to the team,” said Coetzee.
“We want to get as close to the same sort of player that suits the team, because that has been working well for us. Seabelo is just as good on defence as he is on attack, and his breakdown skills are really unbelievable. We have Pat Howard, who played on the wing last time we faced the Kings, and he did really well.”
The Western Province will face the EP Kings on Friday (5th September) at the Newlands Stadium in Cape Town and will then clash with the Golden Lions at the Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg on the 13th of September.
