PE gangland hit claims the life of alleged gangster Sean Berry

JUNE 20, 2016

Port Elizabeth police have appealed for information that might lead to the arrest of suspects involved in gunning down an alleged gang member and wounding another on Sunday night.

"It is alleged that at about 20:45, Sean Berry (30) and his friend were standing outside Berry’s parent’s house in Barends street, Salt Lake when three males approached them," described police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu.

"The suspects started shooting at the duo. Berry sustained multiple gunshots to his body while the other victim (34 years) was shot twice.

"Berry died while on the way to hospital. The suspects fled on foot. The incident is gang related. Police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder."

Berry is believed to be a brother of Donovan "Staal" Berry, another suspected gangster, who also died in a hail of bullets at the beginning of May. Police have since arrested a suspect for that shooting.

"Police are appealing to the community to assist them in their investigation. No suspects are arrested. Information may be reported anonymously on 08600 10111 or to Lt Col Mike Grobler on 082 442 1825," said Colonel Naidu.

"All information reported to police will be treated as strictly confidential. By working together we can make our communities safe."
