PE police hunting for suspects who shot at officers in Bethelsdorp

On Saturday, at about 06:55am, Port Elizabeth Flying Squad members responded to a complaint of a shooting in progress in Bethelsdorp area. On arrival they approached three suspects, who were carrying firearms.

"Members requested them to stop but they refused. One suspect turned around and shot towards the Police. The police went for cover, retaliated and called for back up," Eastern Cape police said.

The suspects managed to escape.

"The police searched the vicinity and recovered two firearms with 8 live rounds," the police said.

"A case of attempted murder, attack on police and pointing of firearms was opened for investigation."
