PE police make drug busts

JANUARY 20, 2015

Acting on a tip off, Port Elizabeth police on Tuesday seized an undisclosed amount of drugs at a house along Oliver Street in Kensington.

Spokesperson, Warrant Officer, Alwin Labas, said police had to dig several holes in the yard of the house to retrieve Tik, Mandrax and dagga with a street value of around R15 000.

No arrests were made but Labans says the home-owner is one of three people who were arrested in Despatch early on Monday morning on illegal weapons charges.

It is believed the three suspects were close acquaintances of murdered PE gangster, Hilton Booysen.

Booysen died in hospital after being shot several times while sitting in a car outside a tavern in Kamesh Road in Gamble, Uitenhage.

Meanwhile, police also bust a small scale dagga farm in Elands River Road, in Rocklands – details to follow.
