Police appeal for leads after two months old boy snatched at Walmer Clinic

The Mount Road Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual offences Unit (FCS) is currently investigating an abduction case of a two-months old baby was abducted at the Gqiberha Clinic in Walmer Township, Port Elizabeth, on Wednesday.

It is alleged that the mother and her baby were at the clinic and while she was waiting to be helped, she was approached by an unknown female, who is believed to be in her 40’s, and offered to look after the baby while she waited in the line.

“While the mother was waiting on the line, the suspect indicated that she needs to change the nappy of the baby and that she will go and buy nappies, and she left the clinic with the baby,” said police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg.

She added that after a while, the mother became concerned and started making enquires. That was when she was informed by local residents that they noticed a woman fitting the description leaving in a taxi.

A case of abduction was opened at the Fountain Police Station in Walmer Township.
