Police investigating murder case after woman’s body found in Bethelsdorp

Port Elizabeth police have launched an investigation after the body of a 23-year-old woman was found lying in the bushes near Bethelsdorp, Port Elizabeth, on Tuesday morning.

According to local police, they received information from a local resident about a woman that was lying nearby bushes and suspected to be dead. This was confirmed when police arrived at the scene.

The woman’s body has since been taken to a local mortuary for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death.

“A murder docket has been opened for investigation and the 23-year-old deceased has been identified as Lenique Cupido,” said police spokesperson, Captain Johann Rheeder.

He added that no arrest has been made yet in the case and that police are appealing to anyone, who has information that might assist the police in solving this murder to contact their nearest police station.

The investigation continues.
