Police recover 21 suspected stolen livestock in Mbizana

The SAPS' Mount Ayliff Stock Theft Unit, with the assistance of the members of the public, successfully recovered five cattle, four horses, four goats and four sheep at Ndunge Location, three cattle at Mathwebu Location and one heifer at Ngcingo Location, in the Mbizana area.

"This came after an anti-theft  operation, which was conducted on Sunday, yielded good results," Eastern Cape police said.

The SAPS is appealing to community members from Mbizana, Mount Ayliff, Harding, Ntabankulu, Flagstaff, and other locations, who have reported cases of stock theft or experienced stock theft to the Mbizana police to come forward in order  to identify their lost or stolen stock from the ones on the police holding.

No arrests have yet been made as these cases are still under investigation.

"The SAPS would also like to sensitize the members of the public to count their stock regularly, brand their stock and also ensure that they have the necessary documentation when transporting their stock as the livestock is  on the demand during the festive season," the police said.
