Police searching for Mthatha victims’ killers


Mthatha police have called-on community members to help with information regarding the whereabouts of an undisclosed number of suspects following the discovery of two bodies at the Mthatha Dam yesterday evening.

Speaking in a statement, Police Spokesperson Lt Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela said that officers from the Mthatha K9 Search and Rescue unit found the bodies the Jacquil Miller (19) and Carl George (20) at about 18h30 after a tip-off from a community member. A vehicle, reportedly belonging to one of the victims, was later found abandoned in the nearby village of Kwa-Link. No arrests have yet been made.

A preliminary investigation has found that both victims, who were last seen alive on March 9th, had bruises on their bodies but no signs of gunshot wounds. A post mortem will be carried out either today or tomorrow.

“The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation and at this stage police cannot speculate on the motive of the murder,” Fatyela said.
