Police still monitoring situation after protests along PE-Uitenhage Road

Port Elizabeth police have managed to reopen the old Uitenhage road after protesters blocked it with stones and rubble, disrupting traffic between Port Elizabeth and Uitenhage on Wednesday morning.

Police were still monitoring the situation when protesters again blocked the Missionvale road.

The protesters want Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Executive Mayor, Danny Jordaan, to address them about their grievances.

On Monday morning, protesters were dispersed by police from the Chatty dip along the Port Elizabeth/Uitenhage Road.

Again, on Tuesday morning a protest was broken up along the same road.

Motorists are advised to to use alternative routes.
