Update: KINGFISHER FM CONFIRMS RADIO DJ ARRESTED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT WORKS AT THE STATION

A well-known Port Elizabeth radio presenter, who cannot be named until he has been formally charged, is expected to appear in a local court this morning after he was arrested on Tuesday afternoon on allegations of sexual assault after he allegedly stalked a 22-year-old woman and repeatedly threatened to sexually assault her over the phone.

The 35-year-old DJ, who reportedly presents a weekend breakfast show at local community radio station, Kingfisher FM, spent last night at the holding cells of the Humewood police station.

He was arrested at the station’s premises at the King’s Court complex in Buffelsfontein Road by undercover police officers posing as centre customers.

The case, if it goes through to prosecution, will be a first in Port Elizabeth as no one has ever been charged for sexual assault where no physical contact took place.
