Port Alfred K9 Unit busts one for housebreaking and assault on police officer


Port Alfred K9 handlers, Warrant Officer Tertius Neethling and Warrant Officer Fernando Trollip, on Sunday responded to a housebreaking in West Beach Drive, Port Alfred, with their K9 patrol partners, Bonzo and Dax.

"They picked up tracks leading from the house and Warrant Officer Neethling found two persons carrying boxes and warned them to stop," said Eastern Cape police.

"The suspects dropped the boxes and ran into the bush. The member managed to apprehend one suspect with his patrol dog Bonzo.

All the stolen property was recovered.

"During his arrest, the suspect fought with W/O Neethling and ripped his uniform and scratched him on his upper arm. The suspect faces a charge of housebreaking and theft as well as additional charges of assault on a police officer and resisting arrest."
