NOVEMBER 26, 2016

Two alleged Port Elizabeth armed robbers are expected to appear in the Motherwell Magistrates' Court on Monday after they were busted by alert police officers on Friday.

Port Elizabeth police said that members of Motherwell police station spotted a white BMW, similar to one that had been used in an armed robbery at a tavern earlier in the week.

"As they approached the vehicle it sped off and a car chase ensued.

"The driver was arrested and an unlicensed firearm and R2 500 in cash were found in his possession," police said.

"On further investigation, a further R5 000 was found hidden in the ceiling of his house. A blue light and ammunition was found in his brother's room and he was also arrested.

"The driver of the BMW was positively linked to the armed robbery."

Both men were arrested.
