Port Elizabeth hijacker who got lost and collided with a police patrol expected in court

A 25 year-old suspect is expected to appear in Court on Friday after he was arrested by Port Elizabeth police on Wednesday in the city's Kabega Park suburb on charges of hijacking  and reckless and/or negligent driving.

"It is alleged that during the early hours of Wednesday morning, a man was parking his mini-bus in his yard in Kabega Park when he was accosted by three unknown men.

"The complainant was pointed with a firearm and the men, after failing to gain entrance into the house, drove off with the minibus," police said.

"It is further alleged that the suspects, who were not familiar with the area, lost their direction and collided into a patrolling police vehicle."

He was arrested while his other two accomplices fled and were still at large at the of the report.

Police investigation continues.

Another suspect is also expected in Court after he was arrestd on Tuesday evening for hijacking in Gelvandale.

Acording to the police, a man was seating in  his vehicle - a Toyota Tazz, with his friends in Shauderville when four unknown men approached them and threatened them with a firearm.

The suspects drove off with the vehicle and a hijacking was immediately reported to local police.

"Algoa Park police spotted the vehicle driving in the area.

"The driver was stopped and a suspect, in his mid-twenties, was arrested and detained for vehicle hijacking."
