OCTOBER 10, 2016

A Port Elizabeth man is expected in court soon after he was shot and wounded during an attempted house-breaking incident in Milpark, in the city, on Saturday.

"At about 06:00 this morning [Saturday], a 40-year-old vagrant was shot in his arm by a security official, who responded to an alarm at a business in Milpark, PE," local police said.

"It is alleged that when the two security officials arrived, they spotted the suspect breaking a window at the premises. The suspect then lashed out at the officers with a stick.

"He also damaged their vehicle in the process. As one security guard fired a warning shot, the suspect lunged towards him."

He was shot in his arm and was taken to hospital for treatment.

A case of Attempted housebreaking at business premises and Malicious Damage to Property was opened against him.
