Port Elizabeth Matriculant gunned down on way to exam - police appeal for leads


Police in Port Elizabeth have launched an investigation after a 17-year-old boy was fatally shot on his way to school to write Matric exams on Friday morning in an open field in Lodewyk Street, Bloemendal, in Port Elizabeth.

According to the police, the victim sustained two gunshot wounds - one in the arm and one in the head.

“The motive for the fatal shooting is unknown at this stage and police is appealing to anyone, who can assist in the investigation to contact Lt Col Mike Grobler on 082 442 1825 or the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111,” said police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu.

She added that all information supplied is strictly confidential and the caller has a choice to remain anonymous.

The Provincial Gang Investigation Task Team is investigating a case of murder.
