Port Elizabeth police arrest one in daycare centre robbery

Port Elizabeth police on Friday afternoon reportedly made an arrest in the case where armed robbers pounced on a Motherwell Daycare Centre and robbed American volunteers, who are working there, and other staff of their valuables on Thursday morning.

According to Motherwell police, three suspects arrived at the Ikhaya Daycare Centre in Kunene Street, Soweto-On-Sea, at 9:15am, one of them armed with a firearm, and threatened the group of people – including eight tourists who visited the centre.

One shot was fired and the robbers took personal possession including phones, bags and wallets from their victims.

According to police the suspects escaped on foot and nobody was injured during the attack.

Some of the valuables have been recovered during the arrest.

Police are still gathering information on the two men who are still at large and he has asked the public to report any information about the case to the police.
