Port Elizabeth police following good leads in robbery and murder of elderly woman

AUGUST 21, 2015

Police in Port Elizabeth on Friday afternoon said that they are following up good leads as they seek to arrest three armed men, who murdered an elderly woman in the city's Kabega Park suburb in a suspected house-breakin on Thursday afternoon.

Police have identified the woman as 78-year-old Marlene Webber.

She was found strangled to death in her granny flat in Lytham Street following the house-breakin.

The three armed men, who are still at large, broke into the house and tied up the woman's pregnant 37-year-old domestic worker with cable ties before ransacked the home and fleeing with an entire safe and a laptop computer.

The three men apparently also broke into the main house, which belongs to Webber's son.
