OCTOBER 7, 2015

A well-known Port Elizabeth businessman has been found shot dead in his popular Wicker Woods restaurant in the city's Walmer suburb. Details are still sketchy, but Port Elizabeth police have reportedly ruled out foul play at this point.

The man was found with a gunshot wound to the head while a 9mm pistol was found on the scene.

The past few weeks has seen several high profile Port Elizabeth businessmen losing their lives or being wounded in gun-related incidents.

On Tuesday, controversial businessman and owner of V&R Auto, Raven Rungan, was laid to rest after he passed on Saturday after being shot four times about two and half weeks ago in an apparent hit.

In late September, Port Elizabeth police launched an investigation after another businessman, 64-year-old Soonthra Chetty, was found murdered in his Sidwell business.

Less than a week before, another businessman, identified as 'Imraan Shaik' of Malabar, was hospitalised after being shot at least seven times by a lone gunman outside his Durban Road business.

That same week, 38-year-old Rajen Naidoo was shot dead along Burt Drive by two gunmen.
