AUGUST 12, 2015

A family of seven has reportedly been killed in a shack fire at Wells Estate in Port Elizabeth.

Reports say that the Fire brigade in Motherwell was alerted to the fire at around 5 o'clock on Wednesday morning. When the firefighters arrived the shack was already destroyed and the whole family, who were inside, burnt to death.

According to Port Elizabeth police, the deceased were three women, aged 19, 25 and 62 and four children - two boys aged seven and three, as well as a six-year-old and a ten-month-old baby girl.

In July, six people also lost their lives in two separate house fire incidents in the city's KwaZakhele and KwaNobuhle townships.
