Possibility of load shedding tonight

JULY 7, 2015

While Eskom expected no load shedding on Tuesday morning, the power utility warned of possible load shedding during peak hours today. Eskom has not implemented load shedding this month.

“The power system is currently stable, and this will enable Eskom to perform maintenance without load shedding,” the power utility told news agency, ANA. “However, the power system is expected to be constrained during the evening peak period (5pm – 9pm) mainly as a result of increased electricity demand.”

Eskom said that with the current cold weather across the country, electricity users should consider energy efficient ways of keeping warm. Electricity demand in winter peaks in the morning and evening as more electricity was being used, the power utility said.

“We appeal to all our customers to continue to reduce their electricity usage throughout the day but to be aware of the need to save more during the peak periods from 6am to 10am and 5pm to 9pm.”
