Power grid stable as Eskom enters into 46 days of no load shedding

SEPTEMBER 23, 2015

Eskom on Wednesday said the power system was stable and it expected to implement no load shedding. In the past 46 days, the power utility has only implemented Stage 1 load shedding for 2 hours 30 minutes.

"The risk of load shedding remains low for today. Thank you, keep making a difference by reducing electricity usage throughout the day," Eskom said.

On Monday, it said that last week's maintenance work at the Cahora Bassa hydroelectric dam in Mozambique has been progressing well, with exports to South Africa expected to gradually increase.

Eskom expected to get the full 1 500MW from Cahora Bassa on Tuesday.
