Premier Masualle sends condolences to families of eight people who perished in Ngcobo crash

Eastern Cape Premier, Phumulo Masualle, on Wednesday conveyed his condolences to the families of eight people, who died in a horrific car crash that occurred on the R61 - approximately three kilometres outside Ngcobo, on Tuesday night.

It is reported that, a double-cab bakkie, carrying 11 passengers, lost control n a curve after the driver lost control resulting in a head-on collision with an on-coming vehicle, a sedan.

Six people died on the spot while two others died on the way to hospital.

Four other people are reported to have suffered serious injuries and have been taken to the All Saints Hospital.

Unconfirmed reports are that the passengers in the bakkie were on their way to collecting their social-assistance grants in Engcobo when the tragedy occurred.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated.

On behalf of the Eastern Cape Government, Premier Masualle also wished those, who were injured a speedy recovery.
