Price of petrol up, diesel drops

BY CHARL BOSCH - JANUARY 30, 2016

The Department of Energy has announced that the price of all grades of petrol will increase by six cents per litre from next month.

In a statement, the department said the ongoing weakening of the rand against the US Dollar and unplanned shutdown of a number of refineries in the United States, was to blame for the increase.

Diesel will however drop by between 62 and 63 cents per litre, while illuminating will go down by between 59 and 79 cents a litre. Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is expected to rise by one cent per kg.
