PSL confirms trophy handover date

APRIL 21, 2015

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has confirmed that the champions of the 2014/2015 ABSA Premiership tournament will receive their new trophy on the 9th of May.

“The PSL, in consultation with our sponsors, Absa, have decided to hand over the trophy at the last fixture of the club that will emerge as champions of the Absa Premiership on 09 May 2015,” PSL CEO Brand de Villiers said.

“This means that even if a club has mathematically won the Absa Premiership before Saturday, 09 May 2015, they will not be handed the trophy until their last match,” he added.

Kaizer Chiefs are currently sitting on top of the PSL log with 60 points. They only need another three points from four games, in order to take this year’s trophy. Mamelodi Sundowns are second on the log, with 47 points.
