PSL News: Will Platinum Stars hand Chippa United Third Successive Loss

DECEMBER 17, 2014

Platinum Stars are looking to give Chippa United a third successive Absa Premiership loss when the teams meet at Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Last Sunday, Dikwena played to a second successive draw when they were held to a goalless stalemate at home by Bidvest Wits. The Rustenburg-based club has claimed nine points from six home matches this ABSA Premiership season.

Stars are currently sitting on position 12 on the PSL log with 16 points from 14 matches.

Chippa United suffered a second successive league loss when they were beaten 1-0 by log leaders Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday. The Port Elizabeth-based side has claimed six points from seven away matches in the ABSA Premiership season.

The Chilli Boys are currently sitting at number eight on the Premiership log with 21 points from 15 matches.

Platinum Stars and Chippa United have met in three top flight league matches. The Chilli Boys have claimed two wins, with the other match ending a draw.

Stars’ only previous home match against Chippa was a 1-1 draw back in 2012/13.

When the teams met earlier this season in PE, the Chilli Boys claimed a 2-0 home win.
